Evaluation of Parameters Performed on the Automated Blood Cell Analyzer, H-1^(¢â)System

Abstract
An automated blood cell analyzer, H-1TM system, performs simultaneously complete blood cell count and white blood cell differential count, based on the principles of light scattering and cytochemical reaction. We compared the performance in the 10 parameters of H-1 system with those of Coulter Counter Model S plus IV (CCS plus IV) which operates on the principle of electrical impedance. The result of WBC differential count was also compared with that of manual method. Blood samples were obtained from 57 healthy blood donors and 62 patients with blood culture request.
Very good correlation was observed for all parameters except mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC).--In WBC differential count, the correlation was relatively good in neutrophil, lymphocyte and eosinophil, but poor in monocyte and basophil.
In conclusion, the results of H-1 system correlate well with those of CCS plus IV and manual WBC differential count, and it is considered that the system can greatly contribute to hematology laboratories with ever increasing workload.
